Ben Stiller Stand up Paddling in Hawaii

Onscreen Ben Stiller is known for playing goofy but endearing characters.

But in his personal life it seems the Meet The Fockers star is a bona fide action hero, effortlesly catching the waves as he enjoyed a spot of paddle boarding yesterday.

Showing off his muscular body in a tight wet T-shirt, the accomplished sportsman caught wave after wave as he exercised in Kauai, Hawaii.

Action hero: There was nothing funny about Ben Stiller as the comedian took to the waves for a spot of paddle boarding in Hawaii

He certainly had an appreciative audience, with his wife of 12 years snapping away on her camera.

Christine Taylor, who is herself an actress, remained safely onshore with the couple's daughter Ella, ten, and son Quinlin, seven.

Dressed in a stripy string bikini, 41-year-old Christine stood by and took pictures of her husband as they enjoyed their summer vacation.

Stiller, 46, then came ashore and joined his family on the beach.

He and Christine met while filming a TV pilot and she has since appeared in his movies including Zoolander, Dodgeball and Tropic Thunder.

The island destination of Kauai is a holiday favourite for the Stiller family.

The actor loves it so much he is set to film his next movie there. He is currently in talks to star in the new comedy Aloha with Jonah Hill to be filmed on location in Hawaii.

The comedians are currently appearing in The Watch together, which tells the story of a neighborhood watch group that must defend Earth from an alien invasion.

Jonah came up with the idea for Aloha and it was developed by the pair and producer Shawn Levy on the set of The Watch.

Screenwriter Nicholas Stoller, who directed Jonah in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek, is in negotiations to pen the script.

Stiller's next project will be starring in and directing fantasy-comedy movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which is also set to star Sean Penn.
